Read these as you need to; write them down if you need to. Sometimes writing something down over and over (or typing it over and over) makes it real, makes it a habit. So yes these quotes are all a little “vanilla” and yes they sound generic and over used to some. But when we are at the lowest of the low, it helps to remember some of these phrases. They are a coping skill, a way for us to feel a glimmer of some kind of hope.

Believe me, there are times I tell my husband “don’t say anything you would write on a t-shirt” because it often feels forced and annoying to hear the same things over and over. Although, when I am stuck in my darkest hour and someone tells me “you got this, don’t give up” or “believe in yourself”, it really does release a certain amount a serotonin in my brain, to help me see a brighter side. For darkness breeds more darkness, and light breeds more light. If you want to survive this thing called mental health, it is a good rule of thumb to do anything possible to create some kind of positivity in your life, even if it takes incredibly small steps to get there. So go ahead and put a quote on a shirt and wear that shirt with pride!
